Privacy Policy

Last updated: July 14, 2026

CapeQuest is built for families with kids 7–12. We take children's privacy seriously and align our practices with the U.S. Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA) and comparable frameworks. This page is written for parents, in plain English.

What we collect

  • Parent email, to create and secure the account.
  • Child nickname / hero name, a display name only. We don't ask for real names, addresses, phone numbers, or photos.
  • In-app activity, missions completed, XP earned, feelings check-ins, focus sessions, story progress.
  • Basic device info, needed to keep the app working (e.g. browser type, error diagnostics).

What we don't collect

  • No behavioral advertising profiles.
  • No precise geolocation.
  • No contacts, camera, or microphone access.
  • No third-party trackers in the kid view.

No ads, no data sales

We do not sell, rent, or share your family's data with advertisers or data brokers. Full stop.

Parental consent

Only a parent or guardian may create a CapeQuest account. During onboarding, the parent confirms consent for the child's use of the app and sets a PIN that gates parent-only areas (settings, billing, data export/deletion).

How we use the data

  • To run the app, show today's missions, save XP, keep streaks.
  • To sync progress across devices for the same family.
  • To send transactional emails (password reset, receipts, important service updates).
  • To fix crashes and improve reliability, using aggregated diagnostics.

Who can see the data

Only the parent account holder, and CapeQuest engineers strictly for support and reliability. We use trusted infrastructure providers (Supabase for storage and auth; PayMongo for payments) that process data under industry-standard security controls.

Deleting your data

You can delete your child's profile at any time from Parent HQ → Settings. To delete the entire account, email hello@capequest.app from the parent email on file, we will purge within 7 days and confirm by email.

Data retention

Active accounts keep progress data as long as the account exists. Deleted accounts are removed from our production database and purged from backups within 30 days.

Cookies & local storage

We use local storage on your device to keep you signed in and remember settings (like Low-Stim Mode). CapeQuest needs an internet connection to load missions, save progress, and sync across devices. We do not use third-party advertising cookies.
